Summer is well under way! And the box… well, the box is positively tropical 🙂 There has been lots going on lately and more to come, take a read of the latest newsletter below…

CFL Partner Competition

We will be hosting our 2nd annual in house pairs competition on Sunday 16th July 11:30 am – 4.30 pm. This event was well received last year and it’s not too late to sign up (even if you don’t yet have a partner!) – the registration form is on the mezzanine whiteboard.

Competiton Results

Huge congratulations to our members and coaches who have competed in recent competitions!

CFL member Christian Wilson (aka OMW) made the final of the Battle of Britain in April – awesome work!

CFL members Erann Royle and Sally Thomson competed at the British Weightlifting Championships on 20th May, taking 1st place and 3rd places, respectively. Great work girls!

CFL Coaches Chris Lowden and Gary Stephenson recently qualified for and competed in the masters division of the Castle Games at the start of June, with Gary finishing 4th in the veterans and Chris going on to win the 35 – 40 yrs category!

CFL Members Georgie Rossiter and Erann Royle competed at the FORM series in Leeds. Good work Ladies!

CFL member Ian Billsborough and CFL coach Gary Stephenson competed in Raising the bar a few weeks ago. Nice work chaps!

CFL Members Jenna Louise and Heather Singleton competed at the Scale the Heights competition last weekend. Both ladies did fantastic with Jenna finishing in 15th place in the semi finals and Heather finishing in 5th place and securing her place at the finals in September. Great work ladies well done

We have several members set to compete at Rainhills in July. Adam Stableford, Sam Hensley, Fran McGladrigan and Emma Hunter will all be competing on the Saturday. No doubt, many of you will be heading over to Manchester to support them! And well done to everyone who represented CFL in the spring trials!

CrossFit Games Athlete – Cathy Wilson!

For those of you wishing to support Cathy on her journey to the CrossFit games in the USA this summer, you can attend the fundraiser we are hosting on Sunday 25th June 11am – 4pm. There will be plenty going on, with opportunities to workout, indulge in delicious food and get kitted out in CrossFit apparel.

The CrossFit Games will take place for the first time in Madison, Wisconsin, USA between August 3rd – 6th 2017. There will no doubt be plenty of opportunity to follow Cathy’s progress online. Pending the time difference and event times, we should be able to set up the big screen at the gym to broadcast events live, as we have done in previous years for the Regionals.

New members

We would like to welcome new members to the gym and wish you all the best for your time with us. The gym has been getting busier and busier this year, which is testament to the hard work of all the staff, coaches and the welcoming atmosphere created by existing members.

As we announced recently, we are close to our membership capacity. Once the cap is reached it will be a case of prospective members joining a waiting list and joining on a ‘one in, one out’ basis.

In previous years we have been undersubscribed, so waiting lists for classes were unheard of. However, now we are close to capacity, certain classes will be more in demand than others and we would encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment. Also, if you could endeavour to unregister as early as possible if you know you can’t make it to a class, to give people on the waiting list a chance to attend. In particular for the 6am class, as much notice as possible would be appreciated when unregistering.

Thanks!

Member Survey – July

We are planning on putting out the member survey next month and we would welcome your input. We have used previous survey results to inform / update the class timetable, gym policies and prioritise new equipment purchases. We would appreciate your honest appraisal.

Changes to the gym layout

We have made a few changes to the gym layout, mainly to create more space during class times. The biggest changes have seen the smaller rig move adjacent to the larger rig, in front of the roller shutter. It has been covered in hazard tape, but please be aware of the new position. In workouts involving the rigs and running outside, we will be recommending staying to the left of the smaller rig on the way in and the way out, in order to split up the traffic and avoid running into each other.

We have also changed the position of the rowers, which will hopefully involve them moving less. They are delicate and we have had a few large bills recently for new parts for the rowers.

The wall balls are now situated in front of the rowers and we have moved the boxes into the store room to save floor space.

PT Work

We have several coaches / personal trainers available for one to one, or small group training sessions, for those of you looking for extra assistance in mastering new CrossFit skills (e.g. toes to bar, pullups, muscle ups etc.), Olympic Weightlifting technique, or extra support working towards specific targets (competitions, body composition targets etc).

You can speak to Gym Manager marie in the office about this, or get in touch with CrossFit Leyland on our facebook page, or email marie@crossfitleyland.co.uk

Physio

Training takes its toll on the body! Take advantage of our resident experts in physiotherapy and sports massage and book an ‘MOT’ for your body.

Message them directly to book an appointment, you can find contact info in our facebook members group. Any problems, let marie know.

5 Year Anniversary

In November we are set to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. That crept up fast!

We would just like to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to all of our members and staff for your love and support. Without your commitment and recommendations to friends we wouldn’t still be open almost 5 years later!

Happy training everyone!
