Constantly varied, high intensity, functional movements…. CrossFit by its very nature is supposed to prepare you for the day to day rigours of life, as well any unexpected physical challenges that might be thrown your way!

Everyone has their own reasons for attending the box on a daily basis, all of which undoubtedly contribute to an improved quality of life in some capacity. Here are some insights from a few of our more experienced members at CrossFit Leyland;

“After working from a desk all day, I used to enjoy going out running, but developed a lot of problems with my knees and back. Until I joined CrossFit Leyland, I hadn’t realised how immobile I had become. Since I started, I have improved my mobility, posture and strength thanks to the input from the coaches and I can now run pain free. CrossFit has revolutionised my fitness!  It is a friendly environment in which people encourage one another, the training is fun and never becomes a chore.”

Mike Redshaw – Chartered Accountant

“CrossFit allows me to carry heavy bags, cycle, swim and even body board in the sea this summer! I feel energised, welcomed and certainly not anywhere near my age !  CrossFit is a little like looking after my grandchildren for the day, sometimes it leaves you shattered, but it’s always great”

“CrossFit is an investment in my future; just as much as saving up in my building society account allows me to plan holidays or to buy nice things, investing in my fitness now allows me to do the things I love now and to know I’ll be able to keep doing them for years. In my late forties, before Crossfit, the ski slopes were leaving me aching and breathless, I’d had to buy a trolley for my golf clubs rather than carry them and I’d ask the younger guys to raise the main sail on the boat, it’s hard work. Now after 20 months at Crossfit I’m as fit as I was when I was 40, I can do anything I want to and still feel fit and fresh. Oh, and I enjoy it, I love the workouts and the community, the WODs are hard work and yet getting fit has never been so easy!”

“But the main reason I love CrossFit … instead of being called ‘Old and grey’ im referred to as a ‘Master’ or ‘Legend’ !”

Neil Chessell – Retired Public Sector Worker

“CrossFit is the perfect way to brush off those daily cobwebs, socialise and build strength and stamina. As someone who teaches dancing, this new found stamina helps me to keep dancing for hours on end without getting out of breath.”

“As a man closer to 50 than 40, a nuclear family in tow and a public sector worker, what did CrossFit ever do for me?

Well, in short, it helps keep me sane…….”
