Summer is on the way, making outdoor training much more fun! If you want to inject a bit more variety and fun into your existing training, you can’t go wrong with entering an adventure race.

This will be the 3rd Tough Mudder race in which we have entered a team. In previous years we have had 20+ team members, making the training sessions and the event good fun. Tough Mudder is more expensive than other adventure races, but the organisation is excellent and courses / obstacles are well thought out.
If you have never done anything like this, or even ran anywhere near the distance involved, do not worry! Our training sessions will give you the confidence to complete the event. In previous years we have had team members who had never ran further than a mile prior to the training camp, go on to complete the event with the rest of the team.

TM Training Sessions
In previous years we have held a tough mudder training camp, which has proven really popular. The outdoor sessions are great fun and help get used to the terrain and distance involved, whereas the gym based sessions help develop the stability and strength to overcome the various obstacles. The training camp will provide you with a good base leading up to the event and also be a tonne of fun.
This year, our TM training camp will run for 8 weeks, with sessions on a Sunday morning (10:00 am) and a Wednesday evening (5:30 pm), starting Sunday 17th July. The outdoor sessions will change location each week, taking in country parks, woodlands, marshlands and even the sand-dunes in the local countryside.
The main emphasis of the sessions will be on running over varied terrains, with some fun obstacles thrown in for good measure. These sessions will give you the confidence to take on the 16-20 km and 20+ obstacles, as well as giving you a chance to get to know your team mates.
Training sessions will be open to both non-members and members of CrossFit Leyland. Prices and details will be announced next month.
Roll on July!
