NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2015

Over the last few months we have welcomed lots of new members to the box so there are lots of new faces about so please introduce yourself.

To all our new members WELCOME ON BOARD and we hope you are enjoying your training.

Three years:

We have recently celebrated our three anniversary at CrossFit Leyland and would like to say a big thank you to all the members who have been with us from the start and helped us get to where we are today.

To celebrate our anniversary properly we thought it would only be right to do a WOD!

We will therefore be hosting a special workout in honour of our anniversary on Saturday 28 November at 10am (instead of the usual class). The workout will be open to everyone including our CrossFit kids.

We hope to see new and old members down to help us celebrate and join in the fun!

Booking classes:

Classes are getting busy now so it is really important that you book on to your classes and TURN UP. There has been many occasions where there has been people on the waiting list and someone hasn’t turned up. Please can everyone make a conscious effort to either turn up if you’re booked on or cancel your place in time so that another member doesn’t miss out.

We ask you to book on classes for many reasons but the main reason is for your safety. Depending on the number of people attending the class will dictate on the amount of coaches we have teaching the class and the space we will allocate for the WOD.

Winter is Coming….

Here are a few tips to help you stay motivated during the winter months.

  1. Change your mind.
  2. Focus on the benefits of training
  3. Get a trainer
  4. Set a regular time to work out and stick to it
  5. Try something new
  6. Set a big goal—and some little goals
  7. Get excited.

Listen—you’ve worked mighty hard all year. Why throw it all away during the season of frivolity and food? It won’t be easy to stay motivated, but friends can help. Stick to the routine as much as possible and you won’t feel the after effects of a long indulgent holiday season – you’ll be one step ahead when January rolls round too.

Competitions:

League of Legends:

The League of legends is an online competition open to 35+ age group athletes offering both scaled and RX workouts in male and female categories.

Over the last 10 weeks many of our master’s athletes have completed workouts which have been released every other Sunday morning with athletes having 1 week to submit their scores. The league lasted 10 weeks with masters completing 5 workouts in total.

Our masters at CrossFit Leyland have enjoyed competing in the League of Legends and have all done a fantastic job. Well done guys!!!

Personal Training

We still have a few slots available if anyone is interested? This can focus upon any element that you feel you need to work on (Olympic Weightlifting, CrossFit, Gymnastics, Kettlebells. Mobility etc). We have seen great improvements in those who have chosen this route due to the 1:1 attention they receive.

We are now selling gift cards from the shop which would make a great Christmas present for that special someone!

Give someone the GIFT OF FITNESS for Christmas!

Physiotherapy/Sports Massage

Massages don’t just feel great, they also provide excellent recovery assistance for CrossFit athletes.

Getting a regular massage once a month or more can help you reduce soreness and risk of injury while increasing mobility so you can perform better.

During high intensity exercise, lactic acid and general toxins from acidity increase in your muscles. Your body can naturally clear lactic acid and toxins with time and rest, however massage can help expedite the process, especially when you are working out often.

Other benefits of massage include:

  1. Massage lengthens fascia and muscle easing it back into place. This increases range of motion and has the added benefit of making your muscles look more toned.
  2. Increases blood flow and circulation getting more oxygen into your body.
  3. Decreases and anxiety and stress.
  4. Helps reduce pain and inflammation in the joints, tendons, nerves and bones.

Feedback

We really value your feedback (positive or negative). This is really important to help us improve and develop, so please don’t be shy. Remember we have suggestions boxes scattered around the gym if you would prefer your suggestion to be anonymous.
