CrossFit Leyland is no stranger to newborns amongst our community, with many of our female members continuing to enjoy Crossfit throughout pregnancy and returning soon after giving birth. Our coaches have become more adept over the years at scaling workouts for female members at different stages of pregnancy.
CFL co-owner and coach, Gina Turner, actually gave birth herself just five weeks ago and has made it look like a breeze. Gina continued her daily training right up until giving birth (her waters actually broke just following a workout!) and credits the smoothness of her pregnancy to maintaining a healthy diet and exercise regime.
“I can’t stress enough how beneficial it was (for me personally) to be ‘fit for labour’. I feel like my weight management, strength and fitness helped so much with my energy levels throughout the pregnancy and helped me cope with the demands of labour. Im grateful to be in good health and feeling physically fit to support Flynn post partum.”

One of the most appealing things about CrossFit is that it draws in people from all walks of life. At CFL, we have members of all ages, abilities, fitness levels and health conditions and thats one of the reasons that Gina decided to hit the books and gain the level 3 pre and post natal instructor qualification. The course is one of the most popular pieces of CPD in the fitness industry, providing instructors and coaches with a better grasp of how to safely and effectively tailor exercise for pre and post natal women. Choosing to study with HFE, the UK’s leading provider of personal training courses and fitness instructor qualifications, will enable Gina to run bespoke pre and post natal courses at CrossFit Leyland.
Speaking about working with Gina, HFE’s Marketing Manager, Josh Douglous-Walton had this to say:
“Considering how knowledgeable and experienced Gina is already, it was an honour that she chose to study with us. It’s been a pleasure supporting her and she naturally passed with flying colours. Our goal as a training provider is always to help our students and graduates ‘become more’, to go out there and make the biggest difference possible. We feel that Gina embodies this mission perfectly. Going forward, we see this as the start of a long term relationship between ourselves and CrossFit Leyland. We hope that we’ll be able to help more CrossFit Leyland coaches up-skill, whether that is with our level 3 pre and post-natal course, or any of our other courses and qualifications in the near future.”
